Garvita Kapur is the Senior Director of Digital Technology at the New York Public Libary and is responsible for end-to-end management of all digital portfolios encompassing software development, quality assurance and project management. She received the Library Leadership Award from the New York Public Library for leading the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) initiative as part of the Task Force. She is also Chair of the AI working group leading experimentation and the Library’s policy related to AI. Garvita has nearly two decades of experience in diverse industries, including education, media and healthcare. Before joining NYPL, Garvita worked at Code and Theory, a digital agency, overseeing product engineering efforts for multiple Fortune 100 brands. Garvita and her team received a Webby Honoree award in the Activism category in 2022 for the Giffords.org website. Previously, she worked at organisations like Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medicine. Garvita is a continuous learner with two master's degrees, the most recent being an Executive Master in Technology Management at Columbia University. Garvita has had a technology career, from coding to leadership in complex environments, with proven success in bridging business and technology to deliver organisational goals. She has demonstrated success in building high-performing teams and helping talent be their best by fostering a culture of trust, empathy and collaboration.
