WordPress has changed a lot in the last 6 years since the introduction of the block editor. We can now build sites using many different strategies, including a more structured approach with many guardrails (not unlike Drupal with Paragraphs) or go completely flexible with a true WYSIWYG editor to build the entire site, more like Wix or Webflow.
In this session, learn what’s new in the ecosystem from two experienced WordPress developers. We’ll talk about all the new pieces that are now in Core, between blocks, patterns, theme configurations, the editors, etc. We’ll discuss how to make decisions on the approach to take, why it's important to understand the needs of your clients before making these decisions, and what other factors will go into these decisions.
But more than that, we’ll SHOW you what’s new, with demos of how we build WordPress sites today using both extremes; a highly structured site with guardrails in place, and a low-code, visual site with all the flexibility. And we’ll reveal which approach is better! (spoiler: neither)
